An Ancient Fruit

Excellence of the Territory

We are committed to distributing the iconic Limoni di Sorrento not only for their exceptional quality but also for what they represent. The Limone di Sorrento IGP—cultivated in Massa Lubrense, Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant’Agnello, Sorrento, Vico Equense, Capri, and Anacapri—has been a presence in the region since the time of the Romans.

This is evidenced by some paintings discovered in the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompeii, where the unmistakable oval shape of the ancestor of today’s lemon is depicted. In short, a product that has always been present and cherished by humanity throughout history.

A Millenary History

Historical records highlight the Limone di Sorrento as a star of its time, distinguished by its citron-yellow color and medium-thick peel. Its fragrance has enchanted generations, and its properties have made it a staple since ancient times for recipes, remedies, decoctions, and more. A simple lemon offers incredible benefits, such as:

  • Boosting the immune system
  • Detoxifying
  • Purifying
  • Possessing antirheumatic and hypotensive properties

It’s no surprise that its distribution quickly expanded to international markets, spreading the fame of the iconic Limone di Sorrento throughout the Western world.

Not Just Any Lemon

The Limone di Sorrento has been recognized by the European Union for its unique characteristics, setting it apart from the common lemon.
The oval Limone di Sorrento is not a single defined cultivar but rather a collection of the finest and most widespread clones in the Sorrento Peninsula.
It is highly re-flowering and, if not for the winter cold, would bloom almost continuously throughout the year.
The climatic conditions of the Gulf of Sorrento are ideal for cultivating this precious golden fruit.
