Features of Our Production

The Pergolato Sorrentino

The production of IGP Limoni di Sorrento requires specific territorial characteristics, even earning the name “Pergolato Sorrentino” due to the characteristic terracing. We explain it in detail in this section.

Our family-run business, Galano Raffaele, has been producing IGP Limoni di Sorrento for over 50 years. We cultivate on 5 hectares of land equipped with the traditional pergolato, essential for this unique production.

Integrated Terracing

The cultivation method typically used is terracing, with the plants incorporated into retaining walls.
The training system is a “free vase,” adapted to a suitable covering structure.
The trees are grown under the so-called Pergolato Sorrentino, a unique framework made of poles—preferably chestnut wood—covered with reeds known as pagliarelle.

This highly re-flowering species produces up to five blooms per year, allowing for an extended harvest period, generally from January 1 to October 31.
The lemons must be harvested exclusively by hand to prevent contact with the ground, preserving their quality and authenticity.
